Our Mission
The purpose of
the Agency is to provide effective, affordable and accessible
human services to children, adults and families, including
those with special needs, residing within the geographic
area of Southern New Jersey encompassed by the Jewish Federation.
Our goal is to
promote wholesome family life and healthy personality development.
All services are provided by trained, experienced and licensed
professionals.
Jewish Family
& Children's Service is accredited by the Council on
Accreditation of Services for Families and Children, and
is a member of the Association of Jewish Family and Children's
Agencies. JFCS is licensed as an Adoption Agency by the
State of New Jersey.
JFCS receives
funding from the Allied Jewish Appeal, the Raymond and Gertrude
R. Saltzman Foundation, the Jewish Community Foundation,
the United Ways of Camden and Burlington Counties, fees,
grants, and donations.

Counseling
and psychotherapy services by qualified licensed professionals.
Individual, couple, child, family and group therapy is available
at convenient times at affordable fees. Third party insurance
is accepted.

JFCS helps at-risk
children and adolescents and their families find more effective
and appropriate ways of coping with the stresses that hinder
their functioning, performance, and well being.

Time
limited and ongoing support groups meet at JFCS. Education
courses and seminars offer a wide variety of helpful group
activities addressing women's issues, parenting, interfaith
relationships, single fathers, domestic violence, addiction,
grief, loss, and job search skills. All groups meet for
six sessions unless otherwise noted. Group series rates
are $10 per session for individuals and $15 for couples.
Payment plans and scholarships are available.
JFCS's Speakers'
Bureau provides professionals to speak to schools, organizations,
and synagogues.

The goal of our Adoption Program is to help people make
informed decisions about adoptions. We give attention to
the unique needs of each individual involved in the adoption
plan. JFCS offers counseling, resource recommendations,
homestudies, identified adoption, birthparent services,
post placement services, and ongoing support for adoptive
parents.

By
offering supportive services, the Senior Chai program of
Jewish Family & Children's Service helps older Jewish
men and women remain in their own home or apartment safely
and with dignity.
Affordable services
for the elderly include assessment, counseling, case management,
housekeeping, personal care, Kosher Meals on individualized
care plans, to give injections, and to monitor medications,
nutritional needs, and blood pressure.
A monitoring
program for out-of-town adult children is offered where
Senior Chai can serve as a liaison to aging parents providing
care, supervising services, and keeping the family informed.
Resource consultations
are available to help individuals and families become familiar
with older adult services in the community. A resource guide
is provided as part of an informational session to facilitate
long-term planning.

Jewish

families with information on resources for older adult services
in the community such as assisted living facilities, nursing
homes, and resources to maintain independent living.

With the guidance
of a professional in the field of developmental disabilities,
Jewish Family & Children's Service offers individual
counseling and life skills to the special needs population.
Groups for sharing and problem solving are also available.
Gam Yachad offers
developmentally challenged young adults and their families
the opportunity to participate in stimulating social/educational
activities centered around Jewish holidays.
The Independent
Living Project is for high functioning young adults to live
independently with supportive services from the Agency.

JFCS
volunteers deliver kosher meals, make friendly visits to
the homebound, provide medical transportation, and telephone
reassurance, tutor émigrés and are Special
Friends to children. Volunteers help others while adding
new dimension and meaning to their own lives.

Both direct services and referrals are provided to help
newcomers to the United States achieve economic self-reliance
and social integration as rapidly as possible. Services
may include case management, English As a Second Language
classes, vocational counseling, acculturation activities,
and community networking.

The
Community Chaplaincy Program provides spiritual outreach
by a rabbi to the frail elderly in hospitals, nursing homes,
the homebound elderly, as well as those living in non-Jewish
institutions. He also conducts Shabbat and holiday services
at the Jewish Geriatric Home.
